James T. Ferrara is a partner in the firm, who focuses his practice on business and commercial litigation, including Construction Law, Contracts, Shareholder Disputes, Insurance, Judgment Collection, Real Estate and Personal Injury law.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ferrara had the honor of serving as a Circuit Court Judge in Florida’s 15th Judicial Circuit for Palm Beach County.
An experienced trial attorney with a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating, he has personally tried more than 60 State and Federal trials through both jury and non-jury verdicts. He has also represented clients in matters before the U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Florida’s District Courts of Appeal and its Supreme Court.
In more than 30 years of practice as a civil litigator and as a former Circuit Court Judge, Mr. Ferrara has experience in a wide range of laws which affect Florida’s people and businesses. These include contract drafting and disputes, real estate litigation, homeowners and condominium association disputes, shareholder and closely-held business litigation, guardianships, insurance coverage issues, construction litigation and Florida lien law, personal injury and property damage claims, debt and judgment collection, and landlord – tenant disputes.
He shares his experience with the community and The Florida Bar by serving on The Bar’s Rules of Civil Procedure Committee. Additionally, he served on The Florida Bar’s Grievance Committee for Palm Beach County, and on the Board of Directors for the South Palm Beach County Bar Association. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA, legal counsel to Habitat for Humanity, a Trustee of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, and is a graduate of the Chamber’s Leadership Boca Program.
Mr. Ferrara received his Juris Doctor degree from Cumberland School of Law and was the Associate Editor of the School’s Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University, in Greenville, South Carolina, where he was on the Dean’s List and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
