Five Shapiro Blasi Attorneys Selected to 2020 Florida Super Lawyers List

Five attorneys from Shapiro, Blasi, Wasserman & Hermann have been selected to the 2020 Florida Super Lawyers List, including Andrew B. Blasi, Adam S. Chotiner, Joseph M. Landolfi, Jr., Michael D. Mopsick and Jeffrey P. Wasserman. Super Lawyers® is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a multi-phased process, which includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent research, evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The Super Lawyers list recognizes no more than 5 percent of attorneys in each state.

Biographical information:

Andrew B. Blasi, a founding shareholder of the firm, has more than thirty years of experience in South Florida. He focuses his practice on business transactions and contracts, commercial and residential real estate and finance, as well as real estate development, mortgage and asset-based lending, business workouts, dispute resolution and creditors’ rights. In addition, he also handles litigation and arbitration of disputes in those areas. He has been included in Florida Super Lawyers Magazine since 2014.

Adam S. Chotiner, Shareholder, focuses his practice on labor and employment law and litigation, representing a wide variety of employers and businesses. He is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by The Florida Bar, and he oversees the firm’s Labor and Employment Law practice group. He also defends claims against businesses under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which generally requires businesses and their websites to be accessible to persons with disabilities. He was previously recognized by Florida Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star.”

Joseph M. Landolfi, Jr., Partner, focuses his practice on estate planning for high-net-worth individuals utilizing entities, trusts and advance directives. He has experience with drafting agreements and formation/organization documents for limited liability companies, limited partnerships, C corporations and subchapter S corporations. He also counsels clients with respect to guardianship matters, and the structuring of trusts in connection with Medicaid planning and special needs planning. He was first selected to Florida Super Lawyers in 2016.

Michael D. Mopsick, Of Counsel, represents clients in trust, probate, and guardianship disputes, as well as in business and commercial litigation. He is also a Certified Circuit Civil Mediator. Mopsick is a past president of the South Palm Beach County Bar Association and a past co-chair of the Palm Beach County Bar’s Professionalism Committee. He has been listed in Florida Super Lawyers Magazine in 2007 and 2014 – 2020.

Jeffrey P. Wasserman possesses more than four decades of experience in family law matters, including divorce litigation, pre and post nuptial agreements, post judgment enforcement and modifications, paternity suits and custody matters. Wasserman is a past chair of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar and is currently a Fellow in the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL), dealing primarily with international child abductions. He is currently developing a practice in Collaborative Law, specializing in “peacemaking” and keeping clients out of court. He has been included in Florida Super Lawyers since 2009.

ADA Public Access Claims and Compliance: Shareholder Adam S. Chotiner oversees the firm’s ADA Public Access Claims and Compliance practice group.

This group’s practice is focused on litigation and compliance under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (the “ADA”). Over the past 20+ years, there has been an explosion in the number of ADA Title III lawsuits being filed, particularly in Florida. Such ADA lawsuits often allege the existence of “physical barriers,” such as inaccessible restrooms or parking lots. Over the past few years the scope of ADA lawsuits has expanded to allegations that a business’ website is inaccessible to visually-impaired individuals or is otherwise non-compliant.

The firm’s ADA Public Access Claims and Compliance practice group also handles matters arising under the Fair Housing Act and similar state and local housing laws.
